I listen to and watch a lot of content about business. This episode about being better this year was inspired by a podcast and a YouTube video I recently watched. They have made me be introspective and make some positive changes in my viewpoints and in my life. I hope they do the same for you.
What To Expect From Episode 93
I was recently listening to a podcast that is published by the Harvard Business Review called IdeaCast. This particular episode is an interview with Heidi Grant about an article she wrote for the Harvard Business Review. Here is a link to the article, I highly recommend you read it. In it, she talks about nine things successful people do differently. In this episode, Craig and I talk about a few of the things that stuck out to me the most. Here are all nine, I have bolded the ones we discuss.
- Get specific
- Seize the moment to act on your goals
- Know exactly how far you have left to go
- Be a realistic optimist
- Focus on getting better, rather than being good
- Have grit
- Build your willpower muscle
- Don’t tempt fate
- Focus on what you will do, not what you won’t do
We also talk about a video I recently watched with one of my heroes, Warren Buffett, check it out here. In it, among other nuggets of wisdom, he talks about one of the things that he says is common in all remarkable people who achieve great things. Watch the video, it will be well worth your time.
Focus on getting better. There is a lot more than meets the eye to this sentence. Listen to the entire episode to hear what it is all about.
